Rogue Valley CDC is creating a rich and sustainable affordable housing development at Verde Village in Ashland. The Rice Park at Verde Village Town Homes synthesize the best in sustainability and community through intention, design and layout. Community is enhanced by walking paths, community playgrounds, pavilions and open space, as well an adjacent city park. Sustainability and resource efficiency are achieved through reduced water use, use of natural features to treat and reduce stormwater run-off, reduced building energy use, reduced impact on the land, use of materials that are non-toxic, and finally being ‘built to last’.
The project will include the following energy and resource efficient features:
Proper solar orientation
Solar hot water
Solar space heating
Improved thermal envelope
Heat recovery ventilation
Energy efficient lighting
Energy and water efficient appliances
Water efficient fixtures, toilets and shower heads
Highly water efficient landscaping and irrigation
Infrastructure provided for future photovoltaic (PV) installation
