Designed with expansive roof overhangs, the building responds elegantly to the local Northwest climate by protecting it from both wet winters and hot summer sun. Random-sized fibercement lap siding installed with metal accents and trims, metal roofing and steel railings inside and out provide for a low-maintainance building. The house was designed to meet high standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, incorporating low-cost and renewable materials, radiant floor heat, highly efficient insulation and glazing, and passive solar design.
