Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Energy Analysis

The Mount Angel Academic Center is a collaborative design of a high performance building that features excellent building envelope design combined with extensive daylight combined with extensive daylighting and comprehensive natural ventilation cooling. Working closely with the architects-SRG Partnership-and the Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory (ESBL), SOLARC developed an integrated natural ventilation system that resulted in a building with no mechanical cooling. The facility is anticipated to operate at an energy consumption level 60% lower than the current Oregon Energy Code would indicate. The design of the facility adapted a high performance classroom design developed jointly by the ESBL, SOLARC, and BOORA Architects.
